Catharsis

This was a fantastic project. I wrote, performed and recorded all the music! Bouncing back and forth between all those roles turned out to be a great way to record music. It let each piece find it's own vibe and evolve naturally into a final recording.

The process was very spontaneous. I started out recording one part (maybe the saxophone track), then went back and added an accompaniment track (perhaps piano). Then I repeated that process as required. It let each piece grow organically from a single idea into a longer work. It was really enjoyable to let the emotional curve of each song reveal itself.

Tom Gullion Quartet

I am in the process of reorganizing my touring quartet. My directions in music have changed a bit and we're working out the roster of the group. Please stay tuned for more information.

Education

I'm also happily involved in jazz education. At present my schedule only allows judging a few jazz festivals and presenting a few workshops.
